Hi, Pleased to meet you.

About the writer:
I live 40 miles beyond phone or power lines. Over 50 miles beyond mail delivery. No TV, no radio, no door to door salesmen or politicians. Also no running water. It makes life simpler and a lot more fun. Of course, there is also no trash pickup or sidewalks. However, what there is, is a life full of interesting things to do and I have never been bored, ever.
I have lived in Alaska since 1969. I am a widow. I’ve operated heavy equipment, cooked, been a goldsmith, a taxidermist and a Registered Guide. I’ve built cabins and houses, waited tables, (very briefly, something to do with a pitcher of ice water and a customer) and peeled logs, painted pictures and worked as an artist’s model to buy food and clothes for my children. I’ve even chauffeured for a while. I have held licenses as Boiler Operator, Taxidermist, Mill Operator, Registered Hunting Guide, Fishing Guide and for Mining. Life is interesting so be prepared for anything. You never know what is going to happen next.

  1. I just want to say you are amazing! I don’t know how you do it, but I admire your hard work! I love the fact that you do it all.. including running large machinery. I grew up in a village in Alaska where my Dad would sometimes allow me to be in the bulldozer when he was removing snow from the driveway, so it has always been something I’ve been a little obsessed with. 🙂
